Ade Sose & Ibile – “Ka Ranti” (BITCH002)

“Ade Sose is one of Nigeria’s top percussionists, fronting Ibile, a 12-piece live band that rocks harder than a Mötley Crüe reunion gig.”
- Cal Gibson, International DJ

He has jammed with Fela Kuti, backed Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba and currently throws down with Tony Allen. Ade Sose, a singer and percussionist with a Pan-African heritage, has performed with and learned from the best. Born in Nigeria, Ade studied classical theory and sang in the National Choir of Sierra Leone as a child. In the Seventies, he was the lead singer of Francis Fuster’s group Baranta, a seminal band in West Africa that backed touring African artists and exerted lasting influence on their local Lagos hero, Fela Kuti. After moving to London in 1978, Ade formed his own band Ibile which means Children of The Land.

Ade Sose is now taking centre stage with his first solo release “Ka Ranti” on Bitches Brew. Sung in his native Yoruban tongue, “Ka Ranti” is a cry for remembrance of the cultural heritage handed down by his people’s fore bearers. “Ka Ranti” was mixed and re-edited by Ben Mitchell known for his work as Mr. Hermano and Sao Benitez. It includes a remix from Nigel Hayes from Sunshine Music, Twilight Recordings and the Soma Records act Chaser.

“Ka Ranti” has been featured on compilations “African Nights” on Universal Jazz Germany and Flamigo Discos’ “Black Nights at Garito Café 2″.
